About this ebook

This marshal will protect his witness from everything—including his own wounded soul.

US Marshal Sebastian Spencer is as coldly determined as the criminals he tracks. He’s spent years perfecting his iron control because when he unbends, things break and people bleed. But no one has ever tempted him to unbend as much as the witness in his latest case: a woman he could never think of having.

Isabel Moreno wants her life back, though that’s impossible when the outlaw who attacked her remains on the loose. She agrees to help with the hunt for the fugitive, even though the marshal is the most unsettling, and intriguing, man she’s ever met.

When more than just one outlaw threatens Isabel, Sebastian must keep her closer than ever, closer than he’s let any woman come—and the most dangerous threat of all might be to their hearts.

Turner brings us back to Cabrillo & the world of Las Morenas without missing a beat. Vibrant descriptions paint the world before your eyes. Readers are transported back in time with this vivid tale. Turner gives readers a look at both city and country life at the time and the stark difference between them. At the same time, the plot thickens as more individuals become involved, some with a hidden agenda. Turner develops it all with tact and a flair that will keep you coming back for more. Her mellow writing style really allows the story to shine through. The intensity and reality of the situations facing Turner’s characters is something that winds its way throughout the entire novel. You can feel it as an undercurrent in absolutely everything that happens. Isabel was a fantastic lead character. Despite the hardships she’s been through, it’s hard to feel pity for her. She has such a fighting personality. You just know she’ll end up back on top, on her own terms too. Sebastian was an intriguing contradiction. He was so many things all at once. The harsh realities of Sebastian’s life moulded who he is, but not necessarily in the way that he believes.
