What's new in Play Console

Engagement metrics now more accurately compensate for users who have opted out of data sharing. You may see a change in your daily active users (DAU), monthly active users (MAU) and other metrics that rely on that data starting on 22 April 2025. Plus, more apps will now have access to engagement metrics.

You can now test your deep links using an emulator directly embedded within the Deep links page in Play Console. This allows you to instantly verify your configuration without leaving Play Console or needing a separate device. Streamline your testing workflow and ensure your deep links work as expected, all from one place.

Details about your app bundles can now be found on the Latest releases and bundles page. You can inspect app versions, download assets and get insights into what Play generates for delivery.

App signing can now be found under App integrity in the Play Console navigation. Google Play's integrity and signing services help you to ensure that users experience your apps and games in the way you intend.

Use the new Monitor and improve overview page to easily monitor key metrics for your app, stay up to date with any policy issues and get an overview of your latest ratings and reviews.

The page also shows a prioritised list of recommended actions that you can take to improve the performance and technical quality of your app.

Use the new Test and release overview page to quickly understand your app status and the performance of your latest production and open testing releases – including comparing their performance against your previous releases.

The page also shows Play Console tools that you can use to thoroughly test your app, and a prioritised list of recommended actions that you should take before your next release.

We've added a new feature in the Play Integrity API that can help to protect your app and users. Device recall, now available in public beta, lets you store and recall limited data associated with devices where there's evidence of abuse.

You can now add an optional animated asset to promotional content events, which can help your app to reach a wider audience.

We've made improvements to notifications in Play Console to help you stay on top of your account and apps. You can now find important updates about your account and apps in the notification centre, in the top right-hand corner of any Play Console page.

Notifications about the same issue for multiple apps are now grouped together to reduce the number of notifications that you receive.

We've updated the way that pre-registrations are counted to only include active pre-registered devices. Previously, this included devices that became inactive or pre-registered multiple times.

We've added new metrics to help you monitor and analyse pre-registrations, acquisitions and opens coming from your store listings.

We've added more details to the Promotional content page to show the impact of featured events that you've run, as well as any remaining featuring requests that you have for the current quarter.

You can now add additional email recipients to keep team members who don't have a Play Console account informed about your apps. You can customise the emails that you'd like them to receive.

Add YouTube channels or playlists to showcase your game's features, gameplay and updates on the games tab and your store listing. This fresh content helps to re-engage users, encouraging them to open or reinstall your app.

To qualify, games must meet our eligibility criteria.

We've launched a new metric on Android vitals to help identify when your app is killed due to devices having low memory. These low-memory kills (LMKs) are perceived by users similar to crashes and can affect the perception of quality of your app.

You can now create custom audiences for promotional content by uploading a list of email addresses, instead of integrating with the Play Grouping API.

The new app dashboard shows a high-level view of the performance of your app across your core developer journeys. This enables you to compare your latest release performance against your app's overall performance, check in on your app's engagement, quickly identify issues with your app and view your latest revenue trends – all in one place.

You can now choose lapsed and churned users as your target audience for promotional content events. Lapsed and churned users are users who uninstalled your app, or haven't opened it in the last 28 days. Events which target specific user groups typically have higher conversion rates.

To help you prioritise fixes and debug stability issues, we will now show you non-fatal memory errors in Crashes and ANRs. These are memory corruption issues that don't immediately cause your app to crash but can lead to unexpected behaviour or crashes later on. They also don't affect your crash rate or vitals bad behaviour thresholds.

You can now choose 'Inactive users' as your target audience for promotional content events. Inactive users are users who uninstalled your app or haven't used your app in the last 28 days.

You can now add deep links to promotional content events to send users to a specific place in your app.

This helps to reduce friction in your users' journeys and helps to get them to the right place in your app with a single tap. You can also embed identifiers in deep links to help pinpoint the campaigns that are driving installs and engagement.

Use Gemini on the Crashes and ANRs page to help you understand and debug issues

We've brought your default store listing (previously called your main store listing) and your custom store listings together to help you manage them more easily and compare their performance

You can now add, turn off and fix issues with deep links in Play Console without publishing a new version of your app, to give you greater control and flexibility

You can now filter your Play Points performance reports by promotion type, promotion ID and country to dig deeper into your performance. You can also download reports as CSV files to integrate with your own internal analytics, as well as to keep data and insights for longer than six months.

You can now create custom store listings to target users who find your app using specific keywords on Google Play. Go to Store listings for recommended keywords and help with drafting custom store listings using Gemini.

Keeping your app's size optimised is important – it's an aspect of technical quality that can impact your install success and uninstall metrics. To support apps and games that do need to be larger, we've increased the maximum app size to 4 GB for install-time delivery and modules, with an additional 4 GB for post-install asset packs. We've also streamlined other size limits.

You can now create custom store listings to customise your store listing assets for users who visit your store listing from an integrity protection remediation dialogue – whether it's an Integrity API remediation dialogue or from Play's automatic protection

App access risk, now in public beta, tells your app if there are other apps running that could be used to capture the screen, display overlays or control the device. Once enabled, the environmentDetails field in the Play Integrity API payload will contain the new app access risk verdict. Your app's backend server can then decide how to act based on your risk tolerance.

You can now opt in to receive recent device activity via the Play Integrity API, which tells you how many times your app requested an integrity token on a specific device in the last hour. You can use recent device activity to protect your app against unexpected, hyperactive devices that could be an indication of an active attack.

Pre-review checks now help you to identify potential problems with your app changes before you send them for review, to give you early visibility of any issues. Pre-review checks can help you to avoid common issues that may result in your changes being rejected.

To give you more control over your releases and to streamline your publishing process, you can now discard releases that have not yet been sent for review, on the Release summary page

Google Play SDK console is now generally available to SDK developers. If you own an SDK that is used by Play apps, you can now claim it in SDK Console now. SDK Console helps to improve the performance, quality and security of your SDKs with unique insights, crash reporting and the ability to communicate directly with app developers.

Test billing features, integrate faster and launch with higher confidence using our new Play Billing Lab app on Android

You can now see data for standard requests as well as classic requests in your Integrity API report. Additionally, the report now includes the volume of different API error codes received by your app.

For Play Points integrated titles, you can now track the performance of your promotions and special earn rate campaigns in Play Console to help you understand the value and potential that you get from the programme

The Play Protect verdict tells you if a user has Play Protect enabled on their device and whether it has found known malware. Once enabled, the environmentDetails field in the Play Integrity API payload will contain the Play Protect verdict. Your app's backend server can then decide how to act based on your risk tolerance.

Prompt users running an outdated or broken version of your app to update to the latest available compatible version remotely from Play Console, without any prior integration work. Keeping users on the latest version of your app can help improve your app's user experience and security.
