Ratings and reviews

The designs and story are entirely compelling and interesting. The gameplay feels fluid, dynamic, and continues to be interesting. I say this having played a lot as a kid and picking it up years later only to be even more impressed. While I think the monthly membership is rather expensive I don't think it's the worst thing ever and given how cheap the starter pack is and what it gives you, makes me feel like there's genuine attention to not shoving microtransactions in my face.

4 ⭐ because I come back to this game a lot. Downsides though. 1- monthly pass, $30/mo that's a bit absurd. $10 maybe. 2- Events. Entertaining to say the least but HEAVY 💰 sink. You MUST buy or save tons of gems to roll for event heroes and it's strictly RNG. 3- piggyback off of 2. Game requires a lot of time into it or money. In my experience doing anything else for heroes that aren't event heroes is pointless. Very very few actually benefit you. Overall, good game, time/💰 sink

Update. Decided to revisit the game 5 years later. It has greatly improved its pay to play formula. There is still a play to play aspect, but it is no longer a neccessary part of the game. It will take longer to build up a half decent team but is at least playable without paying. Old. Was a great game for years. They have changed the game play so much that the ONLY way to have any fun anymore (are actually be able to kill monsters) is to spend hundreds of dollars EACH week to get the event deck
