About this app

This is a beta release of the meshtastic.org project. We'd love you to try it and tell us what you think. You'll need to buy an inexpensive ($30ish) radio from a variety of vendors to use this application, see our website for details. We don't make these devices.

***Please*** if you have questions: post on our forum and we'll work together to fix them (we are volunteer hobbyists).

This post is a good place to get started.

We would really appreciate good Google reviews if you think this is a good project.

Certainly not as easy or pretty to use as a regular RCS messaging system. But I was still blown away by how easy it was to get a small mesh up and running. The app is certainly limited and visualibly in development (its an open source project after all). But all of the underlying functionality of Meshtastic has worked flawlessly for me so far.

Works well. Some of the settings could be more descriptive. EG: The settings for serial RX/TX don't actually indicate that they are GPIO pin numbers... currently it's just a box labeled "TX" or "RX", and a random number. Which is confusing when trying to connect a ttl converter, since the pins on the board that are clearly labeled TX and RX, AREN'T actually what you want to be connecting to.

Good app and a good start. Just needs the option to select the key it uses for direct messaging. Also, perhaps some sort of status data in the node broadcast (encrypted), would be useful when signal is just not good for text but occasionally the broadcast gets through (especially during emergencies, ie "I OK, moving to rendez-vous point"
