GraphoGame helps kids learn letters, rhymes and their sounds through a variety of engaging 3D levels – all with your child’s own unique avatar that keeps them coming back for more! The player gradually moves from graphemes and phonemes, through syllables and rhymes, to eventually learn how to blend what they have learned into complete words. By playing just 15 minutes sessions regularly, kids can improve their letter knowledge, phonological awareness, reading speed and overall confidence in literacy.

This American English version of GraphoGame is the result of the work done by Haskins Laboratories, a private, not-for-profit research institute founded in 1935, investigating the biological basis of speech, language and reading, and their related disabilities. GraphoGame is based on decades of research in dyslexia, neurolinguistics and neuropsychology by the University of Jyväskylä in Finland and adapted to English by the University of Cambridge Centre for Neuroscience in Education

Excellent concept, but the US English version teaches kids the wrong sound for short e, which should be like e in bet, but in the game is pronounced almost like a in cat. This is not a problem when e is combined with other letters - then it is pronounced properly. But when said alone, it is consistently wrong. In addition, it is very hard sometimes to hear the difference between the way g and k, b and p and d are pronounced in the game, this time when combined with other letters rather than when isolated. It is, for example, really hard to hear the difference between the way the game says coat and goat. I say this as a 55 year old native speaker of US English, who is not dyslexic and who has taught English as a foreign language. Not sure what the problem is. It should be relatively straightforward to correct. Otherwise, the game is very motivating and a great way of improving reading skills.

Wonderful app for kids. I have shared with a couple kids. Only thing I would change is the person speaking needs to be a little louder and clearer. Other than that a very informative and educational app.
