Shimokitayama Village is a small village with a population of about 800 located in the southeastern part of Nara Prefecture. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, about 90% of the village is forest. Approximately half of the area is designated as a national park, and the Omine mountain range, including the World Heritage "Omine Okugake Trail", stretches to the west of the village.
Outdoor activities such as camping, BBQ, fishing in dam lakes and mountain streams, and nature walks are recommended. At Shimokitayama Sports Park, you can exercise your body to your heart's content, with soccer grounds, tennis courts, golf courses, and parks with large playground equipment used by professionals.
