The Mozart Korea Competition was established to provide Korean music students with an opportunity to overcome the limitations of their collaboration ability, which is their greatest weakness in international competitions, and to realize their dreams of competing on the international stage.
This is the first concert competition to be held in Korea, following the 'Sejong Collaboration Music Festival', which was organized in the form of a competition by the Korean Music Professors Association and the Sejong Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Korean Association of Music Professors, which took on the role of the Korean branch of the 'German Mozart International Competition', was led by Executive Director Kim Haram (conductor of the Sejong Philharmonic Orchestra) and other executive directors, and reviewed all matters, including designated pieces and competition procedures, for a long period of time. The first competition was held in November 2012 and achieved good results at the German Mozart International Competition in April 2014.
