About this game

An evil calculator has its normal arithmetic operators replaced with sadistically obscure functions. Using logic and a bit of algebra, you must work backwards to interpolate them and purge the calculator of its demons. This new, non-profit calculator game by the creator of Synonymy is sophisticated, and challenging.

Non-profit and open-source, The Devil's Calculator is a highly original indie game that's as addicting as it is educational. Accessible to numberphiles and math novices alike, the first 20+ levels are 100% free to play and enjoy.

Each level has you decipher the function of a mysterious operator and use it to calculate the number of the beast to progress. Advanced graphing mechanics, countless features and simple, yet innovative level design provide considerable depth to the gameplay. Players unlock the ability to create their own levels and play challenges others have created - including free DLC levels crafted by the game's creators, educators and mathematicians. With hand drawn artwork and a charming story, the Devil's Calculator is a genuinely fun and gratifying puzzle experience.

Great little puzzle game. The only flaw is that sometimes the controls aren't the most responsive, but I'm playing a game about an evil calculator, and the controls aren't so unresponsive that they hinder the experience - i.e., it's very easy to excuse. It's absolutely worth the premium upgrade if ya dig math puzzles.

the game is fun so far, although a bit wonky/unresponsive here and there. i am wondering how i get the free upgrade?(im a student) and if the game is also free for students on steam. edit: it was really easy to get the key with my student email, so nevermind! I will say this though, i wish the game ran a bit better on mobile, as that'd be my preferred way to play. It's not that bad really, just a bit slow. Eg when I tap buttons, they aren't immediately reactive. Other than that, great game.

This game is simple to understand and challenges you in a way that doesn't feel hopeless. I would highly this if you like puzzles, want to practice your algebra and critical thinking, or if you just like problem solving in general. The only complaint I have is that there isn't really a menu that lists all the levels that you have completed; for instance, if you want to return to a level that you've skipped, you'll have to recall that level's number off the top of your head.
