About this app

AVAT - (Audio - Visual - Article - Training)
We designed the AVAT application to help you use the seemingly unproductive time you have to study English, which each of us has a lot during the day. Whether you go to school, work or go for a walk, even during these activities you can constantly practice your English with various ways of listening that the application offers you. The unique control of the application will help you stop, start listening or return an article about a sentence without having to look at the phone.

Articles
In the AVAT application you will find articles that bring you fun and knowledge. The articles are divided into 4 categories according to the level: Beginners A1-A2, Intermediate B1, Intermediate B2, Advanced C1.
Are you flying on holiday and not 100% sure about your English? Listen to the article "Airports I, II, here you can listen to various turns, which airport staff can surprise you abroad.
Do you know how difficult Novak Djokovic had before he became world number one? Get inspired in the article "Novak Djokovic" by how to make the most of the obstacles of life. ......... etc.

Listening
This application allows you to listen to articles: English (EN), English - Czech (EN / CZ) or Czech - English (CZ / EN). In the listening window, you can click the "lock" button and since then you can control your listening to the article with two buttons on the side of the phone to control the sound (+/-): button (+) "stop / start" the playing sentence, button (-) returns the article one sentence back. In this way, you can effectively listen to English even when walking, driving a car or during normal daily activities. Play individual articles more than once. After you understand English listening, try to repeat the individual sentences in English. This will make you better aware of the whole grammatical composition of a given sentence and you will practice your pronunciation. Once you have mastered the article perfectly, go to the listening system (CZ / EN) and try to translate the individual sentences from Czech to English. If your translation is not exactly the same as the translation of the article, it doesn't matter. It is important to realize why you have translated it one way or another and whether it is grammatically correct. Sentences can often be translated in several ways without fundamentally changing the meaning. However, by comparing your translation with the translation in the application, you will be better able to realize the individual differences in the meaning of the translation.

Text part
in the listening with text window, you will find a text translation of each currently playing sentence in the lower window. If you start listening, the sentence being played will always be marked in red. You can control your listening with the "stop" and "play" buttons, or simply tap on a sentence.

Grammar
in the text part of the article you will find underlined parts of the text. If you click on this underlined part of the text, a grammatical explanation of the given grammatical phenomenon will be displayed at the bottom of the window. The explanations are always described with regard to the context of the whole article. Here you will learn, for example, why this or that time is listed here and what it would mean if another time were listed here. Why a particular term is used here and not an indefinite one, and what would it mean in the sense of a sentence if another term were used here, etc. At the end of each explanation there are general rules for a given grammatical phenomenon, which you can refresh if you are interested . Explanations are always given with regard to the given language level of the article.

Vocabulary
In each article you will find 40-150 words that you can save in your dictionary. Words that can be stored are marked in bold and are selected with respect to the level of the article. (ie words that the user at a given level would not yet know)

Glossary
The application is equipped with a dictionary with a unique method for long-term remembering of words. Among other things, the same principle of listening works here as with an article using a lock screen, so you can try out your daily dose of words, for example, brushing your teeth in the morning or on the way to work.
