The census will be open to enthusiasts from all over Italy who want to give their contribution by having one of the most fascinating experiences that a park can offer. Approximately 2000 deer present within the National Park, of which just under 400 are males of reproductive age, involved in an ancient ritual of fighting and courtship: an evocative experience, that of the census, for all those who want to experience the emotion of direct contact with one of the most surprising events in nature, as well as the awareness of contributing with a small but big help to the protection of this fantastic animal. Volunteers will be able to join, supporting experts for three nights in the male deer census operations, scheduled for the end of September. On the evenings of the roaring census, wolf monitoring will also be carried out through the wolf-howling technique, using the wide acoustic coverage of the territory, guaranteed by the operators. The occasion will be enriched by in-depth discussions with experts on the management of deer, wolves and wildlife in general and there will be convivial moments, which will allow all those present to exchange experiences with people who share the same passions. A new phase of the deer census will begin in 2024, with the digitalisation of some of the survey operations using the "BramitAPP" method. This project is financed by the European Union - nextgenerationeu", as part of a cascade call aimed at the monitoring, preservation, valorization and restoration of biodiversity in protected areas of the national biodiversity center "National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC)".
