I bought the ChessUp board to give my 4 year old a visual tool to learn chess. A few months later, she knows pins, forks, basic opening strategy, basic checkmates, and more. The board itself has incredibly intuitive features which is very satisfying to use. I use the board to play online games over the board myself too. The app has additional training and analysis tools which are just even more icing on the cake. Highly recommend!

Love the board, but app connectivity with it seems terrible. Anytime I select an AI opponent with me as black, white just won't move. I can get it to work if I select an opening and make white's move for it, but even then I have to back out and then resume the match for it to actually play. Also kind of annoying that the AI doesn't seem to try to play any real openings. Or when I choose to follow an opening it just does one move and then does nonsense. Works good online.

The growing pains are over. ChessUp2 has yet to have required a recalibration and is being improved on an ongoing basis. There is a lot to love and nothing to complain about. ChessUp2 lives up to its promise, but it's still getting improved. Bravo! It's not only smart but also pretty, well-sized, and well-priced for its quality and features. I do have 1 complaint: Like every chess book I've read and course I've taken, it has failed thus far to improve my game. Could it be me? Nah!
