About this app

The StART Cycle Tour app is a new initiative from StreetART Toronto, created in collaboration with Concrete Lab and Cycle Toronto. This app allows Torontonians to visit eight iconic street art mural sites in the city's east end in their own time while learning the stories behind each project. StART was initiated by the City of Toronto in 2012 as part of its Graffiti Management Plan. StART manages a range of innovative programs for public spaces and streets that encourage active transportation like walking and cycling.

StART's programs also make Toronto's streets safer and more beautiful, reducing infrastructure maintenance costs by replacing graffiti with murals, and mentoring and showcasing local talent. There are over 200 StART-funded murals and art pieces across Toronto, including large-scale everyday focal points and smaller hidden gems.

The StART Cycle Tour app offers a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts to explore and learn more about specific mural sites. Users will hear from project curators and participating artists as they narrate the meaning behind each impactful artwork visited. The app also provides information on StreetART Toronto's efforts to promote healthy transportation, beautify public spaces, and create safer spaces for communities to gather.

We welcome everyone to join our walking/cycling tour of street art in Toronto's east end and we hope you enjoy the sights!
