TrovaReparto was created to help users of Rome's IFOs to orient themselves in the internal hospital spaces and to find the desired department.
There is no need to create an account and, once downloaded, it does not require an Internet connection.
TrovaReparto allows guided navigation from one of the two IFO entrances to the various departments and clinics.
The app shows the route to the department/clinic on the 2d map as a dotted line. The user's location corresponds to the interactive red arrow. The arrow moves along the path adapting to the user's speed. The use of mixed reality in concert with sensors internal to the device, such as accelerometer and gyroscope, makes the arrow able to stop and start following the progress of the user who is navigating towards the department.
The route is accompanied by vocal directions (“Turn right”, “Turn left” etc.).
Some routes, given the need to move between the various floors, are made up of several parts. In this case there are directions for taking the lift and continuing afterwards.
To navigate in the most effective way, the user should move according to the indications to the desired destination.
The route is built as a single "Ariadne's thread", with a starting point and an arrival point; navigation cannot therefore take place from any point along the route.
To use the app you must be at one of the two starting points located near two entrances to the hospital (the Main Entrance in via Elio Chianesi and the Secondary Entrance in via Fermo Ognibene).
