About this app

Offline Japanese-English dictionary and Japanese language learning study tool. Includes example sentences, kanji information and conjugated forms for each word. Some Japanese words are also translated to many other languages (see below).

The words can be searched using kanji, kana, romaji or latin alphabets. Full sentences and conjugated forms are also recognized. Kanji can be searched by selecting multiple radicals.

The app uses the internet connection and foreground service permissions to synchronize study and languages data.

Ratings and reviews

Good app but some major flaws. --When I go to click search I very often press the games button because the icon bar slides down from the top after a short delay. Why???!!! Just park it up there!!!!! --Common translations of words can be way down on the list below less common ones. (e.g for しか the most common translation "no more than" is 14th on the list). Good luck finding the right one. --The example sentences are WAY too advanced for a beginner/intermediate use.

Impressive. I have been using this app for years, and it is nothing short of flawless. Integration with Anki is a game changer. It helps minimize the hindrance of adding to your collection a newly encountered word. Just long tap the word, add it to your collection, keep doing whatever you were doing, repeat, and later edit such additions whenever you see fit. My only gripe is with the Japanese-Japanese dictionary, which is weirdly sub-par (many definitions are missing).

This dictionary checks many boxes for me. It is entirely functional offline, which is incredibly useful while traveling. It also has many alternative definitions for homophones, so you can quickly identify which word you actually mean. Some indigenous words only have katakana translations, and some of the word choices that first appear are unusual or awkward.
