About this game

Japanese Wordsearch is exactly what it sounds like a word search with Japanese characters. There are English translations and the game will speak words when you tap on them so you can learn while you play.

It has the option to create word searches using either squares or hexagons. The difficulty can be controlled and varies from very easy, (small grid or basic words) to very difficult (large grid or advanced words) and any of the 3 Japanese alphabets (Hiragana, Katakana & Kanji) can be used.

The app works on phones, laptops, tablets and desktops and will adapt the shape and size of the word searches to suit any screen. When you complete a word search, you can then challenge your friends to do the same word search in a shorter time.

Ratings and reviews

I like that I can choose the level of difficulty and that it offers the translation with the words, but sometimes I'll find the word and it will take multiple tries for the app to recognize I have, in fact, found the word, which is very frustrating; so the time it takes to complete a puzzle is not correct when it isn't accepting my first attempt at finding the words.

Very customizable wordsearch options, it gives meaning and alternative spelling for each word and it sounds it out for you when you click on it! This is exactly what I was looking for. Definitely recommend this! I wish there was a way to make ur own wordbank though or favorite words that I'm studying specifically. Overall simple and easy to use.

I use this app very often. It helps me nail down the readings of the kanji. The layout makes it easy to guess the readings of the words before looking at them, and the difficultly settings make sure I'm tested on kanji that are around my level. I like the ability to quickly customize the level while also keeping it random. The only thing I don't like is that there's no setting to pick from all the kanji, it has to be a specific level. Overall, a great supplementary tool for Japanese learners.
