About this app

Krita is a full-featured digital painting application designed for artists. Whether you create illustrations, comics, animations, concept art or storyboards – Krita will be a powerful tool for you.

Krita offers many common and innovative features to make painting more fun and more productive. There are great brush engines for sketching and painting, stabilizers for freehand inking, assistants for constructing complex scenes, a distraction-free canvas-only mode for painting without bother, clone layers, layer styles, filter and transform masks for non-destructive editing. Krita supports all the most used file formats, including PSD.

Krita supports animation with onion skinning, storyboarding, comic book project management, scripting in Python, many powerful filters, selection tools, colorizing tools, color managed workflows, flexible workspaces… And much, much more. Discover the full feature set of Krita at https://krita.org!

This is a beta release of Krita and is not suitable for real work yet. Since the interface is currently optimized for big screen devices (tablets and chromebooks) we are not making it available for phones yet.

Krita is created by the Krita Foundation and Halla Rempt Software. The Krita project is part of the KDE community.

Not compatible with small screen devices. Only shows the upper left corner of the UI & can't move from there to even open a new image. I have it on PC but like to draw on my phone on the go. Hopefully they get it optimized for phone use. Edit: Tried again and it did show more screen this time but still can't move down to open a new image.

The UI is not optimised for non-standard resolution devices, and is heavily disorganized for mobile use. None of the settings or menu windows even fit in my specific screen resolution, and I have to constantly turn my phone to access parts of the menu, if at all. This mobile port is very sloppy and inaccessible for anyone who may want to use it long-term. If you have a computer, just stick to it there. Don't waste your time with this. I promise you having Krita in your pocket changes nothing.

Honestly, having access to all of the amenities of the PC port is fantastic. We love Krita, but the mobile version needs to be loved by the development team. The worst part is that it is hard to navigate on phone UI and the shortcuts are locked to keyboard inputs, which incentivizes buying a bluetooth keyboard. I need to see if there is an easier way to clear up space for actual drawing on the app, otherwise this experience is rather fruitless. We just need space to work with!

What’s new

Krita 5.3.1.1 is a bugfix resolving several Android-specific issues, like middle-stylus-button click issue on OnePlus tablets and a few text input fixes in the text tool.
