----
With “Learn German – The City of Words” the Goethe-Institut is issuing an online game for German learners at Level A1. This free game combines elements from hidden-object puzzles with both co-operative and competitive multi-player games where everyone learning German at beginners’ level can expand their vocabulary skills and compare themselves with others. Playfully presented language exercises transfer basic grammar structures of the German language. The playful approach of “Lern Deutsch – Die Stadt der Wörter” shows that learning German is not difficult at all. And it’s fun!
Update: Now with new “Unicampus” level

This game was apparently designed for 4-year-olds with extreme ADHD. The tutorial literally tells you how to type each word out letter by letter. Extremely basic tips are repeated despite the player already encountering them(and not needing them 99% of the time). Useless, obnoxious "achievements" and "unlockables" get in the way of trying to learn and progress. I want to like this but it seems to be going out of its way to be intolerable to an adult.

The game is good, my only problem is when you get new tasks at the Flipchart and it doesn't work. Eg.:You unlock Natur, Auf Dem Spielplatz and Sport at the same time. The nature task is What do you see in the park?, but if you click eg. The little sign(sport) you wont get the asterisk for the task, because it jumped to the (next) sport task in my case. I couldn't finish the tasks, because this happened every time! It's frustrating because I found all the icons, but not in the order, I guess.

Hi. The experience with the app was great. Here are a few observations and ideas you could check. Thanks. 1. Since a lot of the people might not know German before starting it, you could add a dictionary with the words used at the place the words are saved so that there is a translation to maybe English. (for the University specially) 2. I finished the game twice and I really wish it had more parts to it. Like maybe I could do various other stuff and go to more places.
