Ratings and reviews

The on screen reader is broken again, I think this is the fifth time it's been broken on their end. It has lasted for several weeks now. The reader doesn't group vocab together anymore, constantly gets things wrong, and constantly fails to read kanji and hiragana correctly. For a little while, force closing the app would fix this, but not anymore. It's very frustrating that this keeps happening.

It worked at first. It seemed really great to learn Japanese and translate so I bought the lifetime subscription. Then after I started to use it today it was translating jibberish. Saying everything was numbers or dollar signs and when I highlighted it, it seemed to not be registering the right characters anymore. :( Edit: I added a few more stars it seems to work randomly. I'm using the Google translate app, which is not as good, when this app doesn't translate or turns into jibberish.

I used to love this app, but there has been a recent change to the ads. I don't mind dealing with banners or occasional pop ups, but to interrupt me while I'm typing is too intrusive. I'm sad, because I've had this dictionary for a few years. It's been a helpful resource to look up words quickly during live streams. I like the features for drawing kanji, keeping notebooks of helpful words, & the built-in translate feature. I would continue to support if ads didn't interrupt me while typing.
