My Social Reading is an app designed for schools, allowing students and teachers to read a text together, comment on it, and interact and exchange ideas through short text messages, following the typical dynamics of social networks. All within a safe and appropriately structured learning ecosystem.
The pleasure of reading
Students, within an environment where they feel comfortable, discover the pleasure of reading. In this sense, the app enables deep, intimate, and never distracting reading.
Knowledge and skills
The app enables the implementation of modern digital teaching methods that trigger effective learning mechanisms, enabling students to acquire specific knowledge related to language and beyond, and to practice strategic transversal skills, such as digital and citizenship skills. The ability to add text comments encourages students to work not only on reading skills but also on writing and summarizing.
Informal, Experiential, and Collaborative Learning
The informal methodology underlying social reading makes learning natural and spontaneous, transforming schoolwork into a true experience to be enjoyed anytime, anywhere, beyond the classroom walls and the sound of the bell. The ability to interact activates collaborative learning dynamics, allowing students to spontaneously exchange opinions, discuss, share stories, and learn together, each according to their own inclinations and learning and communication styles.
Augmented Reading: Read and Connect
The ability to include not only text but also links and images in comments enhances reading: Students can make connections, delve deeper through web research, and share it with other readers, sharing additional content and insights.
An Inclusive App
Thanks to integrated tools, each student can personalize their reading experience by choosing the text font, size, and background color, and by activating automatic text reading.
Two Social Reading Modes
The app offers two ways to work:
Cross-curricular readings: involving classes from across Italy.
Throughout the year, reading sessions on specific texts are launched that teachers can participate in with their class. Through a shared calendar, all participants can read and comment on the same text at the same time.
Private readings: involving small reading groups created by the teacher.
Within the app, teachers have access to a library of projects and ready-made readings around which they can create reading groups, involving only the students they choose or the entire class.
Teaching tips and monitoring tools
The readings suggested within the app are enriched with suggestions for teachers to use to foster interaction, effectively stimulate students, monitor their work, and moderate conversations.
