About this app

This mobile app was built to enhance access of seed producers, agricultural extension agents, and farmers, to information on the recommended practices for the production of Pod Borer-Resistant (PBR) cowpea seeds and grains.

The Pod Borer-Resistant Cowpea (PBR Cowpea) was developed to provide inbuilt resistance to the legume pod borer which is popularly called maruca. The currently available PBR cowpea variety in Nigeria is called SAMPEA 20-T.

PBR cowpea is beneficial to farmers because it is resistant to the legume pod borer (Maruca vitrata) which is a notable insect that negatively affects cowpea productivity. This cowpea variety helps farmers to reduce crop loss and achieve good yield on the cowpea farms.

The reduction of insecticide spraying to just two in a cropping season helps the farmers to reduce their cost of production and also minimize their exposure to chemicals being sprayed.

Also, the early maturity quality of PBR cowpea helps farmers to mitigate the impact of climate change and overcome the challenge of early cessation of rainfall.

"PBR Cowpea App" is easy to use, and it does not contain any ads.

Have an awesome user experience.
