What is the Ramon Muntaner Institute?
The Ramon Muntaner Institute. The Private Foundation for Catalan Language Study Centers was established in July 2003 and is based at Mas de la Coixa.
This organization was born from an agreement between the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Coordinator of Centers for Catalan Language Studies, which represents the will of all the centers that are members. Its purpose is the dissemination and support of the research and cultural promotion projects of the centers and institutes of Catalan-speaking studies, entities mainly dedicated to the study of history, cultural and natural heritage and the social sciences and humanities and cultural dissemination within the local and regional areas.
What we do?
The idea around which our projects and our activity revolve is to create a network between the Centers and Institutes of Studies and to make known the important work they carry out as researchers and cultural promoters of a territory. The Institute is an instrument at the service of research and cultural promotion carried out by study centers and institutes.
Main objectives:
• Facilitate communication and joint work between the Centres
• Promote the development of the different fields of study related to the cultural, linguistic, social, economic and political reality of the Catalan-speaking territories
• Promote and spread the activity of these entities not only using traditional methods, such as the creation of a documentary fund thanks to the donations that the centers, study institutes and other entities are making, but also by promoting the use of new technologies, with the creation of this virtual portal that will serve as a link between the centers, researchers and the scientific, academic and cultural community and a showcase for the centers' activities and projects
• Coordinate and subsidize research studies
• Foster collaboration between creators and cultural agents
• Establish prizes and aid lines. These aid lines will be launched depending on the needs of the study centers and institutes
• Organize and participate in scientific meetings and other activities
