About this app

The first attempts to form an association of members of the Public Ministry of Goiás date back to the year 1950. With the end of the Vargas Era, the 1946 Constitution established prerogatives, guarantees and new attributions to the Public Ministry and, in Goiás, the State Law nº 76/1947, published on January 1, 1948, created the permanent career of the MP of Goiás.

A more incisive defense of the interests of MP members became a necessity and, on January 5, 1950, a first attempt was made to form an association. Several prosecutors and attorneys organized an assembly and an act was signed, but the entity did not actually exist.

At the end of the 1960s, in the midst of the troubled Brazilian reality, with a military regime and a new Constitution (from 1967), the Public Ministry of Goiás needed to move forward and fight in defense of the guarantees and prerogatives of its members. Thus, on August 25, 1967, Goiás prosecutors and prosecutors met at 1:00 pm, in the Hall of the Jury Court of the Palace of Justice, in Praça Cívica de Goiânia, to definitively establish the Goiás Public Ministry Association ( AGMP).

The AGMP constitution assembly was presided over by the most senior attorney present, Darwin Raphael Montoro, and signed by 57 prosecutors and attorneys. The meeting was also attended by the then Attorney General of Justice, Arinan de Loyola Fleury, and Holdrado da Fonseca was elected its first president.

The entity has starred in numerous battles and conquests since then. Among them are: the election by the class of the Attorney General of Justice, with a triple list forwarded to the governor; equality of rights and prerogatives with the judiciary; the construction of the new MP model in the 1988 Constitution; the rejection of PEC 37, which intended to remove the possibility that institutions such as the Public Prosecutor's Office, COAF, Federal Revenue Service, among other State bodies, could initiate criminal investigations; besides others.
