2. Point your phone camera at the barcode - Scrapp instantly tells you how to dispose of it correctly by:

(a) Displaying simple instructions like “Recycle,” “Do Not Recycle,”, “Sort Packaging", "Compost", "Repair" and more.
(b) A step-by-step guide that shows which bin each packaging part should go in, or where you can take your waste through our maps feature.
(c) Motivational messages that make you feel like a recycling hero.

Scrapp automatically saves your local disposal rules to give you the most accurate guidance - whether that is your residential waste program or private take-back programs - we have you covered. We currently provide location-based recycling guidance across 100% of the UK, US and Canada. Our internal team reviews frequently, but if there is ever something that awry, you can reach out to our team who will be happy to assist.

Good news - you can still use the app even if we don’t support local guidance in your area yet. You’ll see general advice that is correct for most places.

Since the upgrade bin notification did start working but they are not reliable. Yesterday, the garden waste reminder notification did not arrive. On looking in the app, the food bin is not showing for collection tomorrow, but the general waste is. I used the refresh button on that screen and the garden waste and food waste now show. This has happened before,and I have a friend nearby who sees the same issue. Unsure if this is app related or information being entered from local council.Unreliable

The app does not appear to work on my Pixel 6 phone. I have checked that I have an up to date version. Very disappointed. It goes round in circles when I try to sign up for bin reminders and it won't scan a barcode. The list of what can be recycled is very basic and there is no mention of soft plastic, much of which is recyclable although not with the kerbside collections.

The main feature of giving recycling advice is, in practice, useless. It cannot scan barcodes printed on curved surfaces (like cans). If it scans the code, it never recognises it as something it has advice for. And the search is not much better - it doesn't, for example, know what an LED bulb is. You will get better results from ChatGPT. The reminder of collection day feature worked for a while but has now mysteriously stopped working. Deleted the app and will be talking to my councillor.
