I've used both this lock and the dog and bone lock. The Tapp lock is better. Fingerprint recognition is great and fast. As other people have pointed out the app was in bad shape Bluetooth connectivity was unreliable. It works now but they have a hack on exit to disable your phones Bluetooth. The app seems to be getting better so I'm happy. Edit. Bluetooth no longer works!

I was a backer when Tapplock started. I missed the firmware update of 2018 because my device worked just fine & I didn't receive an update about it. I recently gave a NIB never opened original tapplock to a friend who needed a gym lock. Because the firmware update is no longer offered, I essentially gave her a paperweight. You can't program the device to do anything. The manufacturer has abandoned the product line and refuses to respond to messages across all platforms.

Since today the app suddenly says Server Error no matter what version of app I use. And without app you can't edit/add fingerprints or use bluetooth unlock so essentially the 100$ lock is useless now. What kind of joke is this? Update: Few hours later the app is working again. It's unfortunate however that, like mmo game, the app works as long as server does, except here I don't see why you need to be connected to a server to use a local Bluetooth connection to operate a lock. 3 stars for now.
