About this app

Record of sightings of terrestrial vertebrate species on the campus of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Santa Maria.

The eFauna UFSM application was developed by Dr. Enio Giotto (Geomatics Laboratory), Dr. Marilise Krügel (Department of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering) and academic Lorenzo Langendolff (Computer networks). It is available for free and can be installed on smartphones with Android operating system from version 9 Pie and newer versions.

It is a local application, that is, it can only be used within the limits of the UFSM campus, in Santa Maria. Its purpose is to build a network of volunteers to record and monitor the campus' vertebrate fauna and disseminate the concept and principles of Citizen Science in the production of knowledge in a collective, participatory and voluntary way.

An updated list of recorded species of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals is available to the user, as well as images of all species and links to access websites that offer more information about the animals.

Your participation occurs by recording photos, audio (only for amphibians) or video of the animals that you observe, which are duly georeferenced.

The eFauna UFSM application can be used by anyone interested in this topic and its mission is to promote biodiversity in addition to complementing, stimulating and diversifying learning about wildlife.

Your collaboration helps in the development of programs and strategies for the conservation of fauna within the university campus.
