Why follow a tiny map on your phone’s screen, if you can simply listen to soundCues that guide you to your destination? With waveOut’s spatial audio navigation, there’s no need to look at the screen.

Using waveOut is easy:

Put your headphones on.

Set your destination.

Hold your phone facing the same direction you are looking: you can also use it in a lanyard around your neck or attach it to your bike’s handlebar.

Listen and follow the soundCues that guide you toward your destination. Screen free and easy!

Chose how you want to display your route: Augmented Reality, High Contrast Map, or Text Instructions.

Explore points of interest such as restaurants, landmarks and cultural venues in your surroundings with the Around Me feature.

Spare your phone’s battery with Sleep Mode.

Save your routes and favourite locations to use offline navigation.

** Tips to have the best screen free, spatial audio navigation with waveOut:

- The phone’s back camera must be facing the same direction you are looking at. Images of the streets and house walls are analysed locally on your phone to improve localization (data is not stored or processed for anything else). You can use your phone in a lanyard or attached to your bike’s handlebar.


- Headphones are needed to hear the soundCues. Any headphone model will work. For the best experience, we recommend open headphones so you are always aware of the world around you.

-Chose between different types of soundCues: relaxing handpan melody or a more upbeat rhythm?

- Check our tutorials when you open the app for the first time!



** Route planning can be done:

-Directly on the app

-In your (desktop) browser with the web planner at https://app.waveout.app/map

-Places and routes can be saved on your account and used later for offline navigation.

Spatial audio simulates the way people naturally understand sound locations. When a phone rings or a friend calls, you immediately turn your head. That is how waveOut’s spatial audio soundCues work: as a sound immersed in the real world.

An intuitive experience requires that the virtual content is displayed flawlessly. waveOut combines state-of-the-art computer vision methods to determine the location of the user in the world. We take the latest augmented reality toolkits, global positioning advances and machine learning methods to obtain the user’s position with incredible accuracy.

The app is currently completely free. In the future, we will introduce premium features that will be part of a subscription plan.
