This was an amazing experience for me. Yes, I had to take time to tap on speech bubbles to grind for "Ego" but it doesn't really take long if you bare watching ads and just let it be until you log in with the collected amount of Ego from "reading books". The personality quizzes are something that I can say were unique since it is something you can read and immediately think about something that connects to you. In short, gameplay is a bit dull but the story and ideas inside is beautiful.

A game that looks simplistic when you start, Alter Ego is a heartwarming yet melodramatic game. It requires multiple playthroughs to find the true ending but, once you see the ending, you can't help but feel joy yet sadness in completing the game. Going through a psychological heavy theme, the game ultimately questions one thing: existence. Like Descartes, the game questions this, yet, just like Descartes, you, the player, decide what is true and what is not in the game, just as you do in life.

5 stars is usually perfect, but while I can't say this game is that, I have nothing to complain about. Ads are fair, only being shown if you want to for in-game items. I love a good atmosphere, and if I weren't such a patient person, I may well have bought that in-app purchase to remove ads to maintain that atmosphere. The game has such a beautiful and serene vibe, so atmospheric. Music, art, dialogue, gameplay, all engaging. While I can't say it's for everyone, it was a great fit for me.
