By providing your weight and height, the application will calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) and let you know if you are above your ideal weight.
What is BMI?
One way to know if your weight is appropriate for your height is to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI). The result of this mathematical formula can indicate, for example, if you have an adequate weight, if you are underweight, overweight, or obese. Consider it only as a starting point, as the BMI does not assess your nutritional status as a whole and must be interpreted by a health professional, who will analyze a series of other measures and personal characteristics, such as age, gender, fat percentage, among other aspects, before making a diagnosis.
The BMI formula is the same for everyone. What changes are the reference points, that is, the values considered as references for classifying your weight. These references are specific for children, adolescents, adults, the elderly, and pregnant women.
