I went for the dearer app and it does what it says. I'm of an age when I remember the first of the digital age in model railways (Zero1) where you could have a loco sat on the rails stationary and another loco on the same track move. This is much more than just controlling speed and direction and sharing a track with another loco, this is whistles, horns, lights, pantographs and sounds and the app aids the facilitation of such actions on the press of a button on screen. Well impressed.

A very comprehensive controller at a fraction of the cost of a stand-alone unit. Excellent customer service too: I suggested a couple of features I'd like and a few weeks later there they were in the latest version! Highly recommend.

Cheap, but powerful, introductory unit for DCC train control. The main interface, with the ability to control four of your locomotives _without leaving the screen_ works very well. The ability to export the config to other machines is very useful when changing devices. I've used this happily with N, OO and O gauge locos. Developer support is second to none!
