We use the Darklayer GUARD™ technology, which is the no 1 DNS filtering solution on the market. It works at HTTP, HTTPS, and DNS levels to stop cyber-attacks before they reach your phones or tablets.

Darklayer GUARD™ keeps you safe where traditional antivirus and firewall solutions fail. It also uses the intelligence offered by the VectorN Detection™ engine, which analyzes traffic and behavioral patterns using machine-learning algorithms to hunt threats.

For Darklayer GUARD™ to work, the use of a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service for local DNS request interception is required. Normally, VPNs are associated with creating secure, encrypted tunnels for internet traffic between a device and a remote server. However, in this case, the VPN is used locally on the Android phone and doesn't route traffic outside the device. This means the VPN is employed as a mechanism to intercept and manage DNS requests locally, creating a virtual network layer for this purpose.

A brilliant App- as well as it's pc counterpart. I have been using the pc version for years and always found them outstandingly reliable both software & customer service. Any problems or questions are promptly replied with a polite & informative reply & willing to help. The software sheilds malicious websites from there database & has a superb antivirus engine. So much for my three year license. App freezes during setup.

It has been almost a full year since the app was last updated which is very concerning for a piece of security software. Otherwise it seems to do its job with minimal battery drain.
