Metroidvania goodness! I was almost ready to refund this game when I died twice to the first boss. Then I remembered this a Metroidvania style game so I replayed the first part of the map and leveled up. Once I leveled up the boss was easier to beat and I was hooked. I love the art style, just don't like the music since it gets too repetitive but still fun game.

For the low price, there's certainly plently of content here. Even if the music, plot, characters and art are all simply 'there'. The map, exploration and enemy variety is commendable. But I feel like the game has hit a grindwall around level 15. (Fighting the stone guardians.) Where the increasingly imprecise controls/spambush combat doesn't help the reliance on runes/spells to get anywhere. But it's worth a try. (I just struggled to want to see its conclusion.)

I really wanted to like this game. It does have a lot of good elements. But the controls and awkwardness around stairs when you are fighting an enemy, especially a tall one is just too frustrating. Too many times I have died around stairs due to the wonky affects of trying to jump, move around, roll, attack and everything in between. No matter what it is so difficult to get on and up the stairs. I could have an amazing run and it all be ruined because of a corner of a room with wonky stairs.
