Everything usually works well and easily. You do need to keep track of check deposits as I have had 2 (out of dozens) that did not go through. What I REALLY DISLIKE is the loud noise as you take a picture of the check. It used to be a loud shutter sound, now before that it loudly announce how to take the photo. EVERY TIME. Even if the phone is on mute. Both of these should be options to turn off!!

This used to be a very good app for my purposes, which consist almost exclusively of using it to deposit checks. But they took what I'd consider a 5-star app and nerfed it down to 1 star in some feeble and poorly designed attempt to make it easier to use. The issues: you need to take pictures of both sides of the check to deposit it, which is fine. However, some time ago they changed it to take the picture automatically as soon as it detects the check is in frame, whether you want it to or not. And so it does, poorly and out of focus. But you can't tell for sure if it's out of focus, because at the same time they made that change, they also disabled zoom when reviewing the image, so all you see is a 1-inch thumbnail that's impossible to read. Then it asks you things like "are you sure you can read the date on this picture?" To which the correct answer would be "no, it's a thumbnail with unreadable 0.25mm letters on it," but of course you can only keep it or try again. Retaking the picture results in the same problem over and over again, so you just have to submit a probably-bad picture that it's AI can't interpret and hope that maybe the blurry mess can be interpreted by a human at some point and not get rejected. I've used this app on two phones, including my current Pixel 3A, which has a pretty nice camera, and both issues persist. I submitted feedback about the app directly to First IB when this change was first made. It's been quite some time since then and they have made no attempt to fix it.

My primary reason for using this app is mobile check deposit and that feature has now become unusable. When I go to take a picture it literally screams at me in a jarring voice at full volume with no way to mute. Please add a mute button which stays set between sessions, so I'm not afraid to deposit a check with others around. Also the image is distorted ("squished" horizontally, as if it's being captured in landscape mode but displayed in portrait) and if I continue to take the photo it is captured upside-down. All in all, a horrible user experience and I've stopped depositing checks with First IB as a result. If this isn't fixed soon I'll have to switch to a different bank because this is a must-have feature. (I'm using a OnePlus 7T)
