While this isn't quite like flying in an aircraft, it has been extremely valuable in practicing holds, hold entries, and scanning, all while using your smartphone for free! Very useful tool. While the hold practice seems useful, for hold entries I found it to be more valuable to great my own hold scenarios, as the in app hold practice either has not enough information, or too much information (already giving you the hold entry, etc.) Depending on which page of the hold practice you look at.

Not a pilot (I wish), but I enjoy flight sims and learning everything I can about IFR. This app is not only a great tool for intuitivly understanding the geometry behind hold navigation, but also being able to practice windage adjustments. The addition of freeflight and multiple airports really shows the potential. I would love to see point to point radio navigation and an ILS landing simulation option + ingame link to charts/maps. This is fun learning!

I am not a pilot (but have always dreamed of being one since my youth, but life had other plans for me ~ I'm 58 now), but must admit that this IFR simulator app is highly addictive. It is also very satisfying when coming in on an approach and landing the plane successfully. I especially like the map that is displayed after your flight, showing the plane's trajectory to and from the airport.
