Dionysios Solomos (April 8, 1798 - February 9, 1857) was a Greek poet, best known for writing the poem Hymn to Freedom, the first two turns of which became the national anthem of the Greeks (Greece and Cyprus). A central face of the Ionian School, Dionysios Solomos was considered and considered to be the national poet of the Greeks, not only because he wrote the National Anthem, but also because he used the earlier poetic tradition (Cretan Literature, Municipal Song) and was the first to systematically cultivate the language and paved the way for its use in literature, changing even more the level of ...
