About this app

Since January 2015 the Department of Health Menorca, Balearic Islands, is part of the project Committed to Excellence Centers in Care (BPSO, Best Practice Spotlight Organization) with the support of INVESTEN- ISCIII, in order to implement, among others, the "Good Practice Guide" (GBP) nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) "evaluation and selection of vascular access devices"
Intravenous therapy aims to use a vein for therapeutic purposes, limiting complications and obtaining maximum performance. It is a procedure nurse whose interventions are reflected in the Nursing Interventions Classification -NIC-
In order to reduce complications associated with intravenous therapy and achieve greater therapeutic benefit, Nursing should consider some considerations:
First, that to manage any type of intravenous therapy necessary to puncture a vein by needle into an anatomic area to be selected depending on the prescribed treatment and patient characteristics and preferences.
Secondly, the intravenous therapy involves the proper administration of solutions or prescribed drugs.
Third, the complications associated with intravenous therapy can be considerably reduced by applying quality care about the insertion point, the skin, the catheter and infusion equipment.
Finally, the intravenous therapy also carries associated strict observance of care for not only control the infection but also protect the patient against it.
App Therapy IV (intravenous therapy) Proponents of the implementation of the Mateu Orfila GBP Hospital in Mahon, Menorca, nurses have designed this mobile application (app) as a facilitating tool in the implementation of the GBP.
Includes content that designed the group of drivers during the first months of implementation (decision algorithm, circuit application CVC, updated protocols, interconsultation nursing, list of drugs with pH and osmolarity) and links to sites of interest in intravenous therapy.
We believe that the use of this app will allow us lllevar scientific evidence "footboard" and will be a useful tool for nurses.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
