About this app

TraffickCam enables you to help combat sex trafficking by uploading photos of the hotel rooms you stay in when you travel.

Traffickers regularly post photographs of their victims posed in hotel rooms for online advertisements. These photographs are evidence that can be used to find and prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes. In order to use these photos, however, investigators must be able to determine where the photos were taken.

The purpose of TraffickCam is to create a database of hotel room images that an investigator can efficiently search, in order to find other images that were taken in the same location as an image that is part of an investigation.

Love the idea and want to help, but this app is pretty garbage. I took all the pictures, was told it needed permissions to use location...went to settings of phone to enable....back to app...all pictures deleted. Flustered, I redid all of the pictures, submitted...but then it didn't give me any ETA or a status bar of how long until all done. Needs some serious clean up and work before I attempt to contribute again.

I recently stayed at a hotel and quickly snapped 4 pictures like I've done for years with this app, before letting everyone get comfortable in the room. After checking out of the room, I had a chance to upload the photos, but now see the app update no longer allows that. Not as convenient as before when you are limited on time or signal/wifi. I'll have to change the way I use the app in the future and I guess toss the recent photos.

The app immediately places you into the process of taking photos of a room. It doesn't give you any background on why it exists. it doesn't introduce you to the people who made the app or what they're doing to help law enforcement or advocacy groups with the data/pics you're providing. It doesn't walk anyone through what to do. It doesn't give a way to exit the photo taking process. It doesn't provide a privacy policy. Doesn't even have a title screen to confirm what app just loaded. Needs work.
