Edit 2: I'm so glad the developers have finally updated the app to work. Edit: It has now been well over a month, with multiple app updates, and this app still does not work on my Pixel phone. A response to why that is would be great. The app doesn't even attempt to load on my phone. Have tried installing previous versions of the APK to no avail. The gimbal is great and works well, and I look forward to the day the app is updated so that I can take full advantage of all of the features.

I originally purchased my isteady x direct from hohem back in June 2020 and loved using it for a few months but today On 23 August 2020 I powered up my iSteady-X gimbal it was working normally. I connected to the home application as usual still everything okay. Then I got a pop-up message to update my firmware. As suggested, I pressed continue. Next, the gimbal completely stopped working and is now WORTHLESS. There is no way to connect to the app and it will not function in any way. I tried to connect in live chat, messaged hohem-tech on Facebook, and emailed the company but so far there has been no response from the manufacturer. FYI I really liked it until it was bricked by the update. Let me be clear the gimbal itself worked well at first, it is the hohem pro app that killed it. So if you do not update then perhaps it is useful as long as you do not need to use the moment features or change the settings. ** Review Update** it took me a while but after not getting a response from the company I attempted to self troubleshoot... I deleted and reinstalled the app then un-paired and re-paired the app on Bluetooth a few times on my galaxy s9+.after turning everything off and restarting I was able to establish a connection. (no other Bluetooth connection can be in use!) I was able to receive the pop up for a firmware update again this time which was not showing the other times. I restarted the update and upon completion, the gimbal began to work again. It is important to disable the lock screen and watch that the update completes itself. This may have been the problem although I did not notice the first two times It asked me to update. Thank you for stepping up so quickly and your offer to contact the company!

The modes are not as good as they should be. They dont track properly. Rotating the gimble to take a low shot causes the gimble to flip the phone suddenly. The camera sutter sound is horrible & there is no way to turn it off. On the modes you either have their selection of music or ambiant sound. Their music choices are annoying. If you have a large phone, the gimble will struggle with it if you turn it at more than a 90° angle. For the quality, it is priced too high.
