About this app

Hapkido is a Korean martial arts , self - defense focused on punches, kicks, throws and joint locks. Hapkido classes often have some weapons training (i.e. with staffs, canes and swords). Hapkido also emphasizes circular motion, non-resisting movements and control of an opponent. Unlike the Korean martial arts of Taekwondo, Hapkido generally does not use forms & patterns as part of its training.

Hapkido contains both long and close range fighting techniques, utilizing specialized Hapkido kicks and percussive hand strikes at longer ranges and pressure point strikes, Hapkido joint locks, and or throws at closer fighting distances.

There is a spin-off of traditional Hapkido known as Combat Hapkido. This martial arts was started in America by John Pelligrini in 1990. Combat Hapkido adds a greater self-defense and grappling focus to Hapkido training.

Hapkido is the “anti-martial art”. It was designed as a way to defend against and overcome an attacker with skill in many forms of martial combat. With roots in Aiki-jujitsu, Hapkido adds striking and punching to joint-locks, throws, and grappling, making it one of the original mixed martial arts. However, unlike modern MMA training, Hapkido gives the student a solid base in different forms of defense, and roots the strategy of that defense in the principles of water, circle, and harmony. This gives the student a solid framework on which to develop their skill so that they are not caught off-guard when in real defense situations.

It is designed to allow a martial artist to rapidly subdue an opponent and render any attacker completely incapable of causing harm. Since Hapkido affords total control over a physical confrontation and emphasizes precision over brute strength, the hapkido list can localize any damage dealt to an opponent and avoid creating unintended injury.

Hapkido is the art and science of self defense. It combines a powerful arsenal of kicks and punches, with thrusts, sweeps and a combination of hard and soft hand techniques. Throws and wrist and joint locks are also a feature of Hapkido.

Hapkido is based on three principles and through the knowledge of these, an opponent's force can be used against them. This makes Hapkido truly a form of Self Defence that everyone can use. We also offer full time training, private lessons, instructor courses, as well as special seminars to improve and expand your knowledge.

The app is good, however it lacks warmup and stretching exercises, which are important in order to avoid injury for those with no martial arts background, as for me I am a former Karate practitioner and I believe I do know the perfect warmup and stretching for my body prior to the workout, so it is fine by me, but adding warmup and stretching will make it a more complete tutor, so it should be a priority. Still this is perfect as a free app.

I like it. However it lacks something. Hope the new update can release soon since it will really be helpful, I could give it a 5! A bit too much ads, can get you out of focus but that's fine. Hope they can add full details such as explaing how the momentum works and all. Also felt clueless on how I can use it in-real-life scenarios. Waiting for an update that will share the etiquettes, rules, philosophy of hapkido. Great app, just lacking. Recommend adding cool downs.
