HOW DOES IT WORK?

It’s simple!

Step 1: Download the app for free and complete your profile.

Step 2: Fill in the dates of your stay in the European Union.

Step 3: When shopping, ask the merchant for a “VAT invoice made out to ZappTax”. Photograph your invoices and upload them to the app or forward them by email to [e-mail].

Step 4: At the end of your stay, click to request the automatic generation of your tax-free forms. You will get one or more tax refund forms showing all of your purchases.

Step 5: Validate your tax refund forms electronically at customs before leaving the EU by scanning the forms barcode at a self-service kiosk (PABLO device in France and DIVA in Spain) or by presenting your passport to a customs agent in Belgium.

And that’s all! ZappTax will process your refund and pay you using the method of your choice.

Tried it once a couple of years ago and reused it recently on my trip to Spain, and I have to say Great Job to the team , the UI improved significantly , it's smooth all throughout and their customer service is super reactive. Highly recommend :)

App works well, functionality wise. However it's been nearly 4 and a half months since since we left Europe and I am still yet to receive a refund. I occasionally see what I can get out of customer service but always get robotic copy and pasted responses. Seems like they're capital dried up and they're now struggling to meet demand. Be cautious if you use this service in the warm 6 months of the year!

Really an excellent and extremely practical way to do a tax refund! Zapptax team was always quickly available to answer to any questions throughout my trip to France. The refund was done within 24 hours from my return flight. If you are exporting food products I would suggest you only try a refund if the amount is really worth it, as I had a long discussion at CDG airport with customs as they stated food products cannot be refunded (when in fact it can!). Thanks to the cooperation of Zapptax team the problem shall be solved. As for the app itself, it would be nice to be able to label our invoices ourselves as we get quickly lost within all the names that don't really correspond to the product name itself. Also, on my phone the function to take a photo of the invoice directly from the Zapptax app wasn't working. Yet, the app and my first experience using it for the first time still worth a 5 star rating for sure!
