About this app
Consistent with the aims of the Metropolitan City of Genoa, which from 1 January 2015 took over from the homonymous Province and to overcome the fragmentation of library services previously provided by various local authorities, a new metropolitan library center was established, starting from online services that are managed by the New and Single Metropolitan Portal.
The project, shared by the libraries of the Municipality of Genoa, the Metropolitan City library and a large number of Municipalities (28), as well as the libraries of the Chamber of Commerce and the State Police, offers all citizens the opportunity to freely access and in an open way to the bibliographic and digital heritage on a metropolitan scale through an evolved and rich interface of services.
The libraries of the Municipality of Genoa include 2 central city libraries (the Berio Civic Library and the Edmondo De Amicis International Library for Children), 14 libraries spread over the municipal territories, 6 specialized libraries of the Museum and 5 Documentation Centers.
From a single point of access, therefore, you can query the metropolitan catalog, find information, news, display windows of books and ebooks, bibliographies, reviews and have available many new evolved and social services.

bi.G.met. is the App with which you can consult the catalog of the Metropolitan Portal for
- search for books or other materials, with a textual search or quickly by reading the barcode
- know the availability of the document
- request, reserve or extend a loan
- save one's own bibliography
- suggest a purchase
- view your player status
In addition, available:
- iPad version that, with full-screen navigation, offers the functions immediately available for "tap"
- new search filters and refine search by faceted classification: tags, authors, year, material type, nature, etc.
- possibility to choose more favorite libraries
- in evidence the material possessed by the preferred libraries
- immediate display of availability from the details of the security
- social features for readers: share social events, news, titles, ...
- personal bibliographies synchronized between the App and the Metropolitan Portal
- display of libraries and maps with all the libraries of the Metropolitan Library and related information (address, hours ...)
