About this app

Text Reader is a text to speech app that reads your articles, documents, books, and messages out loud, word for word, in 70+ languages - so you can listen instead of read.

Why listen instead of read

- Rest your eyes and reduce screen time.
- Save battery by listening with the screen off.
- Learn and stay productive while commuting, exercising, cooking, or working with your hands.

Listening

- Listen with the screen locked - control playback from the lock screen, notification, and Bluetooth.
- Adjustable speed - from slow up to 3x for skimming or careful listening.
- Male and female voices, with pitch control to raise or lower the voice.
- Follow-along highlighting - see each word as it is spoken.
- Repeat mode - loop the current text to listen again.
- Resume where you left off - the app remembers your place.

Your texts

- Import PDFs and text files, or share text from any app to start listening instantly.
- Save a library of texts and search it anytime, even offline.
- Clean Symbols - skip stray characters like asterisks so they are not spoken.
- Handles long texts - uninterrupted playback for articles, books, and reports.
- Generate audio from text - save it as an audio file and listen in any music app.
- Save as a text file - export your text to your device.

More

- Dark mode that follows your device theme.
- Right-to-left support for Hebrew, Arabic, and more.
- Works on phones and tablets - smooth performance across devices.

Whether you are listening to a novel on the road, catching up on articles, or getting through work documents hands-free, Text Reader reads every word so you never miss a thing.

This app is exactly what it needs to be. It's simple, but does the job right. You can paste in at least 11k words of text at a time (probably more!) and have it read it back to you, download the audio file, and even change the speed that the text is read aloud. Ads are minimal, the app is free and works without wifi, and doesn't seem to rely on Artifical Intelligence to do a half-assed job. Highly recommend!

I'm a writer. So when I need to read over my work I use this app so I can listen to it and make my changes when need be, if need be. It saves me a bunch of wasted time reading which gives me more time to write. And that's great when I have certain deadlines that I need to make. It's free and really cool. You can customize the pitch of the voice to higher pitch, regular pitch and lower pitch as well as customize the speed at which the text is read back to you. All in all a 5 out 5 stars from me!

It had generally been doing wonderfully. However, lately, it has started skipping while reading. a bit like the sound is flickering in and out on the reading voice. It will suddenly fall silent for a bit and then suddenly pick up reading again lines later where it probably would have been if it hadn't gone silent. I'm not sure why this is happening. It also occasionally keeps reading even when I select pause. only fix is to fully stop the app, clear data, and start over.
