A cryptogram is a word puzzle that consists of a short piece of encrypted text. The cipher used to encrypt the text is a simple substitution of letters and is simple enough that the cryptogram can be solved by hand.

Exactly what it says it is, which is refreshing. No frills, no nonsense, just cryptograms. Only thing keeping it from being a perfect score is that I often know the quote which ruins the puzzle aspect as soon as I get a word, but unless the poor dev wants to only write original sentences that are nonsense and can't be guessed, there's no getting around that if you're well read, and a string of random words wouldn't be a very satisfying solution, anyway! So it's a minor nitpick.

UPDATE1: I lost this game when I changed phones 6 years ago. It is completely adjustable, which is great. It now has ads, but they aren't terrible. It is still the best crypto game that I've played! This is an excellent game if you want think. The puzzles vary in difficulty and you can get hints at any time. I haven't seen any way to purchase anything unless you want to donate to the authors, which is a good idea. I started playing 6 months ago and I'm still playing. Lots of great sayings.

This is a wonderful game. The puzzles are great, though they do repeat sometimes with minor variations. But the biggest thing We love is that it is a free game, without predatory ads. There are ads, of course, but without fail, you can skip them after five seconds, even ads that, in other games, are thirty seconds, mandatorily, or more. And beyond this, the ads don't come after every level. In short, a great, high-quality, engaging, free game, with minimal, user-friendly ads.
