Battlevoid: Harbinger is a hard sci-fi space exploration game blending roguelike, turn-based, star map strategy, and real-time space battles. Had a lot of potential but the experience grind to unlock new ships is dogsht, worse than every gacha I've seen. According to steam reviews it's been like that for years but instead of addressing it as a problem the devs nerfed the exp gains even further. To make it worse, sometimes the game docks you exp for every turn you spend and sometimes will outright decide you spent too much time in an area and swarm you with enemies.

Fantastic game. Absolutely love it. At first I was disappointed with how hard it was even on easy mode. Afraid I wasted my money on a game I sucked at. It was slow going at first, dying and restarting over and over again. But I got better at the game and unlocked more spaceships which made the game easier. I learned a few strategies that lead to my victories. Most involved using the distress call to call ships away from enemy stations or to friendlies for back up. Or simply to wait for fleets.

I really enjoyed this game. Pros: great replay value, ability to add different weapons to ships. Cons: while you can unlock a lot of ships, most are junk. ship control is minimal, and only exists to move you closer to the target. the only strategy is choosing what quadrant to warp into in each sector.
