Ratings and reviews

There's a lot going for this app, but it just isn't reliable. It's slow, often displaying "decrypting messages" which should not take so long and should not occur so often. Also, the app gets stuck "waiting for network". This happens even with perfect connectivity. Clearing cache helps for a minute, but the bug returns. With every update we get regressions. It's unfortunate, but I'm still hopeful they will provide a reliable app some day.

Finally, a decent chat app that doesn't want your phone number (I can't receive SMS!). Wire is very small, clean and simple by not having 100 features you will never use. There are still issues here and there but I have no doubt that they will be fixed soon. Good work! ----------- UPDATE: Notifications are very flaky since last 2-3 months. I tried everything the support page says but I often get no notification for incoming message.

Wire is one of your only good choices for cross-platform end-to-end encrypted and secure communications with voice and video calling. But this client is not very good. Images are rotated wrong, and it lags really bad with high traffic, often freezing up completely. The worst was the other day when it stopped showing a group chat suddenly. Had to reset the app data to fix it, and found out the hard way that conversation backups don't work across PC and mobile, for no reason. Extremely frustrated.
