soon as I turned it in it started backing up. as it was doing this it made my battery hot and does not stop getting hot until I put it in airplane mode. I assumed the initial setting asking to backup using data was the reason but it does not seem easy to find that option to turn it off. maybe I should uninstall and see if it helps.

I can never actually use this unreliable app. It always has to update, or it forces me to sign in and the passwords aren't in my phone, so I'm sitting around trying to reset a password that ends up not working. Don't get fancy, just use Google. AT&T doesn't work.

Its a great place to back up photos in case of a disabled phone and having to change devices. I was able to recover all my photos and videos. This was important to me, bcz, my best friend Maggie, my German Shepherd/Mastiff mix passed away and all my memories were safe with Google photos and AT&T personal cloud. Thanks Google and AT&T for saving the day.
