About this app

This is simple text editor that can help you with editing text files.

This editor mostly used by me for small text notes, write down ideas while I have a break.

Supports only plain text files at the moment.

The code is open so can review code, send pull requests, new features, translations and so on. https://github.com/maxistar/TextPad.

Great app - does such a basic fundamental function that for some reason is otherwise lacking in Android. Although it works flawlessly from the app (open, edit, save, save as, etc) it does not from a file manager - it shows a notification that the file is "Read Only" and gives the option to "Open Again", which gives you a list of files, from which you can again choose the file. This puts you into the editable file. Considering this is a SIMPLE Text Editor, it is a reasonable limitation.

I liked it at 1st, but then it turned out to be pretty terrible on my Samsung A16. Kept yanking to the end of the files. Search Fcn keeps disappearing mid use. Keeps spontaneously exiting the app losing me all my work. Android OS keeps flashing warnings that app has bug. Checking the Erratic Scroll box did nothing to help, all it did was stop the search fcn from accepting input and jambed it up even more. Also had no way of fast scrolling in longer files (when the app did work).

Great little app - does exactly what I need it to and doesn't take up much space! As for @Hubert Breidenbach's issue with more text formatting, colors, etc, also getting pasted, there is an option, when you paste, to "paste as plain text" - you just need to look for it (it's a common android feature, so don't bother getting into a huff if you can't find it in the app - it's deeper into the menu, when u click-and-hold to paste).
