Wanted the advance stats but the shot tracking was not very user friendly so ditched it. Shame the rest of the app seemed quite comprehensive. I much prefer the simplicity of GolfPads shot tracking - click to track shot, click to select club (no scrolling), track your next shot and it stops the tracking on the previous shot, simple. You can also edit shot placements easily if they're incorrect or you forget to start it. Grint asks for so much more clicking and scrolling and can't edit placements

The app was working ok, but now the watch app only updates the GPS yardage if the phone is unlocked. This kind of defeats the object, as I now need to get my phone out for every hole. I contacted them, and they said they would speak to the team, but that was almost two weeks ago and I've had nothing back. Since I need a GPS for golf, I'll look for something else. Other than that, the app is ok. It can be a bit unclear sometimes whether a round has saved, and I can.t seem to save a partial round.

Over the past few years I have used all the top golf GPS apps on my Android phone and smart watch. My conclusion is that If you only use your phone on the course, then all the apps would do the job. But if you want to use your watch for distance tracking and scoring, then The Grint is the best by miles. The other apps either don't have all the functionalities for the watch, or they drain the battery completely before the end of the round. I have used a premium version of a top app in the market and my battery lasted for only seventeen holes. With The Grint I had 40% charge left on my watch at the end of the round. There must be a very clever software that minimises the use of the watch battery. I used the same phone and the same watch. By the way, I am using the free version The Grint as I do not have any use for the extras. I would however be happy to make a monetary contribution as a gesture of my appreciation.
