About this app

The Brother Print Service Plugin enables you to print directly from your Android devices (Android 5.0 or later), to your Brother printer through a Wi-Fi network. As this is a plugin application, you can print using the "Print" option of supported Android apps. Please see below for supported applications (as of March 2015):

- Chrome Browser
- Gmail
- Photos
- Google Sheets
- Google Slides
- Google Docs
- Google Drive

The following print options are available (compatible options will depend on the selected device):

- Copies
- Paper Size
- Color/Mono
- Orientation
- Media Type
- Quality
- Layout
- 2-sided
- Borderless

After installing this application, you must activate it in one of the following ways:
- Tap the icon displayed in the notification area immediately after installation, and enable it in the displayed screen.
- Tap "Settings" on your Android device and tap "Printing", then select "Brother Print Service Plugin". Enable it in the displayed screen.
If you are using Android 12 or later and cannot connect via Bluetooth or Wireless Direct, go to your device settings and allow the Brother Print Service Plugin app access to nearby devices.

Works fine for my old Brother HL-4070CDW printer. I did have to add it to the list of printers when the print dialog came up. At first it said I could not add the printer under the name, but it DID add it when I clicked on it. Strange. But it does work fine. I also removed the grayed out, and seemingly pointless Samsung print plug in in the list before it added the Brother. I also use a newer Canon, but this old Brother color laser I purchased in the early 2000's is still working like a champ!

Like others was working now is completely refusing to talk to a printer it knows is there. Brothers online support is absolutely useless, you need to be a tech genius to figure it out. Was tremendously difficult to set up the first time, worked fine for months, even yesterday. Today I've spent the whole afternoon uninstalling and reinstalling and checking network connections to no avail. The printer is effectively useless since we use it for phones and tablets.

Don't know why but my phone always shows the printer grayed out & unavailable. I have the exact same printer in 2 homes, in different states. Having the same issue with both tells me it's the app or printer. This has been an issue for a few months. Sometimes it'll not be grayed out & will work. Most of the time it won't. Never used to have this problem. Was tired of issues with hp printers so I got the Brother printer & it was so easy. Not anymore. Now it's nothing but problems.
