Imam Jaafar Ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq, peace be upon them, is the sixth imam of the twelve imams (peace be upon them). His father is Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (peace be upon him) and his mother is Lady Umm Farwa.

Imam Jaafar al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) lived at a time of intense conflict between the Umayyads and the Abbasids to monopolize power, which ended with the rule of the Abbasids after a bloody struggle that eliminated the Umayyads. In the midst of this authoritarian vacuum, while the Abbasids and the Umayyads were preoccupied with the conflict, Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) took advantage of that to spread science and establish scholars, as none of the pure Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon him) had happened before him, and that is why we see hadith books replete with his hadiths and sciences.

Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) was born in Medina on the seventeenth of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the eighty-third year of the Hijrah (702 AD) and he was martyred at the age of sixty-five years on the fifteenth of Shawwal in the one hundred and forty-eighth year of the Hijrah (765 AD) ). He was buried in Jannat al-Baqi next to his father. His Imamate lasted for thirty-four years. His most famous title was Al-Sadiq, and his nickname was Abu Abdullah.
