General information about Stadtinfo.app Linz and how it came about:
The oldest precursor of the Stadtinfo.app were information systems made of hand-hammered copper panels at the Linz main station, at the Mühlkreis train station in Urfahr and at the Franzosenhausweg motorway car park, starting in 1988. The Linz copper panels were widely known and a focal point for tourists and locals for decades.
Info point 2006
In 2006, the Linz City Exhibition was launched as a follow-up project. About 15 terminal stations/info points in the public space allowed citizens and visitors to call up online information about Linz and use services free of charge.
The initiator of the project was a Linz company "Stadtausstellungs-,Gemeindeausstellungs-, Stadtinformations- und GemeindeinformationsplanungsGmbH" and a large part of the programming work was carried out by employees in the Linz city exhibition office.
Stadtinfo.app 2020
In 2020 the Stadtinfo.app was developed. In a time marked by the COVID19 pandemic, there is a great need in the economy to network digitally with customers and to offer the residents of Linz a central contact point for information about current activities and services in the Linz economy. Projects such as Kaufhaus Austria showed that artificially created projects with political influence cannot meet these requirements.
The Stadtinfo.app was developed in Linz for Linzers.
